Davis was born Mary Frances Penick on a farm in Dry Ridge, Kentucky. She took the surname Davis when she became half of the "Davis Sisters" duet in the 1950s and the first name Skeeter because her grandfather said she was so active, she buzzed around like amosquito.Davis was married four times.Davis battled breast cancer starting in 1988, and she died of it in a Nashville, Tennessee, hospice, aged 72.

Why does the sun go on shining
Why does the sea rush to shore
Don't they know it's the end of the world
'Cause you don't love me any more
T
Why do the birds go on singing
Why do the stars glow above
Don't they know it's the end of the world
It ended when I lost your love
U
I wake up in the morning and I wonder
Why everything's the same as it was
I can't understand, no, I can't understand
How life goes on the way it does
V
Why does my heart go on beating
Why do these eyes of mine cry
Don't they know it's the end of the world
It ended when you said goodbye
W
Why does my heart go on beating
Why do these eyes of mine cry
Don't they know it's the end of the world
It ended when you said goodbye

Love has no guarantee.
There has probably  been
a time in all our lives
when we lost a true love.
At the time we probably felt
we couldn't go on.
When this happens, we have
to go on and make a new life
for ourselves. Sometimes the
new life proves to be even better.
So if this should happen to
you, remember that life does
go on, and this is
not
The End Of the World.
